Inside the Game: Liberty Hawks 35, Chowchilla Tribe 0

Player of the game: Most of the time, Kaleb Roth is the player of the game and he did his part with 101 yards and a touchdown while recording 12 tackles. However, Roth was upstaged this week by quarterback/defensive back Greyson Hoelzel. Hoelzel connected with Wyatt Roth in punt formation for a 56-yard touchdown and then hit Colton Cardoza for a short touchdown pass with seven seconds left in the half. He added a 73-yard interception return for a touchdown.

Unsung hero of the game: Wyatt Roth sometimes gets overshadowed by his older brother. However, Wyatt accounted for 118 yards and two touchdowns. He scored the first touchdown off a busted punt coverage and eluded three tacklers on his way to the end zone. He added another short touchdown for a 28-0 lead. Roth also had 11 tackles and recorded two quarterback sacks to increase his season total to 6.5, tied for fourth in school history.

Play of the game: Less than two minutes into the game, the Hawks had to punt on their first possession. Greyson Hoelzel went back in punt formation and Wyatt Roth found himself uncovered in the slot. Roth went up the field about five yards and Hoelzel hit him with the pass. Roth bounced off a tackler and ran away from two other defenders going across the field for a 56-yard touchdown.

The Hawks then went on a 17-play drive that went 89-yards and included three Liberty holding penalties so the drive actually went 119 yards. Hoelzel got the Hawks out of a second-and-17 with a 15-yard run and Roth gained three first a first down, but the Hawks were called for holding. Hoelzel then rushed for 11 yards for the first down. On third-and-two, Colton Cardoza ran for three and a first down. Two plays later, Wyatt roth ripped off a 19-yard run. Hoelze found Cardoza for a 13-yard gain, but a penalty was called resulting in a two-yard gain. After an offsides, Kaleb Roth rushed for three and a first down. Hoelzel gained six on a third-and-one for a first down. Three plays later, with time running out in the first half, Hoelzel rolled to his left and lobbed a pass into the end zone for Cardoza for the touchdown with seven seconds left in the half for a 14-0 halftime lead.
