Inside the Game: Bullard Knights 42, Madera Coyotes 20
Player of the game: The player of the game goes to Colt Nelson. Although he had a couple of turnovers, Nelson passed for more than 250 yards to go along with two total touchdowns. One came in the air on a 44-yard touchdown pass and the other came on a quarterback run.
Unsung hero of the game: K’Veon Jones is this week’s unsung hero. Although he scored one of only three touchdowns of the night, his deep pass came against a tough Bullard secondary. His ability to get free from his defender proved to be a catalyst in Madera’s hot start.
Play of the game: Colt Nelson hung in the pocket and scanned the field before he found receiver K’Veon Jones sprinting down the middle of the field. Jones ran past his defender and caught the deep shot for 44 yards and a touchdown. Not only was it the play of the game, but a great start for the Coyotes.
Drive of the game: After throwing an interception on their first drive, the Coyotes came back the next possession and took seven plays to punch it into the end zone. Saldivar carried the load both running and catching. Starting inside their own 20-yard line, Saldivar caught a dump off and took it 33 yards to set the Coyotes up in good field position. After a quarterback run and short pass, Nelson hit Jones for the big score, capping off the drive.
