The Madera Coyote girls water polo team scored the first nine goals and cruised to an 11-1 victory over the Madera South Stallions.

Bailey Hansen and Emily Lopez each scored three goals in Wednesday’s victory at Madera South. Emily Goertzen added two more goals.

Emily Montoya scored Madera South’s lone goal.

The Madera shooters were continually turned away by Madera South goalie Jatzelle Salazar. She recorded 15 blocks, including a five-meter shot. Because of her presence, she also altered many more that clanged off the post.

Madera jumped out to a 6-0 lead in the first half. A goal by Lopez, off a deflection past Salazar, and another from Hansen opened an 8-0 lead.

Montoya score her goal in the fourth period.

Lopez and Goertzen added goals in the final three minutes of the fourth period for the 11-1 victory.
