Big night for Madera drivers at speedway

The Spears Southwest Tour made their annual appearance at the Madera Speedway this weekend with their high-dollar traveling show, supported by an undercard of Madera racing divisions for fans to enjoy.

The Madera Speedway has become pretty famous for two and three wide racing and when the final checkered flags flew for the night and the smoke cleared it was Madera Speedway drivers that stole the spotlight in this high energy event.

Buddy Shepherd is the point leader in the televised RPM Mortgage Pro Late Model Series at the Madera Speedway and he stole the show by winning the 51FIFTY Energy Drink 125 Tour race.

Eric Nascimento Jr. competes in the 51FIFTY Energy Drink Jr Late Model Series on MAVTV from Madera and he made his first pro start in the Madera Late Models against Matt Erickson, Dillion Tucker and a full field of drivers. Nascimento battled door-to-door the entire 40-lap race and took the victory with Erickson and Jarrett Gilmer on the podium behind him.

The Jr Late Model drivers gave the fans a sample of what the 51FIFTY Jr Late Model Series is all about with an exhibition race that featured some racing action by the 10-16 year old kids showing off their talent. It was the Reif boys that finished first and second followed by Anthony Guaimano. Tanner Reif won the race, but it was 10-year-old Tyler Reif that had the crowd cheering very loudly when his age was announced and the fact that this was his first-ever late model race.

Bert Stephens won the MST race, followed by Dave Lander and Patrick Geiger for the top three. Dean Gould won the Toyota Sedan race by out working Jason Lawton and then Mike Marley.

The Legends of the Pacific race winner was Luis Tyrrell, followed by Josh Flemings and Braden Rodgers for second and third. Eloy Bazan took the trophy home for the win in the Hobby Stock series.
