Stallions boys volleyball outlasts Coyotes

Behind 20 kills from Carlos Hernandez and 47 assists from Abraham Alapizco, the Madera South Stallions boys volleyball team defeated crosstown rival Madera to move into a three-way tie for first place in the County/Metro Athletic Conference.

Madera’s Brain Garcia led his team with 10 kills and helped the Coyotes to a 25-20 win in the first game Thursday in Joe Flores Gym.

However, the Stallions came back to pull out a 25-23 win in the second set and then finish out the match with a 25-21 in in the third set and a 25-20 victory in the fourth set.

Javier Arreguin added 12 kills while Javier Gil and Rigo Pineda added seven for the Stallions.

Tyler Mallonee and Hunter Brown each had seven kills. Matthew Brunner and Devonte Orlando added six for the Coyotes.
