Efficient day leads MALL 12s

FRESNO — Behind the pitching efficiency of Dave Ramirez and two big shots, the Madera American Little League 11-12-year-old All-Star team advanced to the quarterfinals of the District 10 All-Star Tournament.

By a quirk in the scheduling, the All-Stars received two days off and played Tuesday evening. A win sends Madera American to the District 10 semifinals on July 5.

Ramirez threw just 54 pitches in a complete-game one-hitter. He struck out five, didn’t walk a batter and allowed an unearned run in a 7-1 victory Saturday over River Park National.
