Winding roads and alcohol are a recipe for disaster
A 46-year-old driver from Seaside lost control of his 1972 GMC C10 while navigating a curve in Madera County on Monday. The truck left the roadway, and came to rest on a descending dirt embankment, on Road 400, near Hensley Lake. Loitering check leads to meth seizure
Madera Police Department Officer Jesse Quintana conducted a check on a male he noticed loitering at Tesei Petroleum. Although the male was initially compliant, his behavior changed after he learned he was going to be searched. It was at that time that the male, later identified as 47-year-old Yaohui Huang, quickly discarded a box wrapped in a large amount of tape. Huang immediately began to stomp on the box before he was controlled by officers.

Multiple arrests for DUI on Saturday
In response to the recent violent crime the community has experienced, Madera Police Officers remained proactive throughout the weekend. Shooting at Rancho San Miguel
Madera PD officers responded to the Rancho San Miguel Supermarket parking lot regarding a report of a shooting Saturday evening. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Preliminary investigation indicates that this was an isolated incident, and there is no ongoing threat to the public or to the store.
