Three arrested for DUI over weekend
Early Saturday morning, the Madera Police Department’s weekend night shift patrol team made several arrests for driving under the influence in different parts of the City. Each incident involved a traffic collision resulting in property damage. Thankfully, no injuries were reported. Pedestrian dies after getting hit by a car
Madera Police Officers responded to the area of E. Kennedy Street and Tulare Street regarding a traffic collision involving a vehicle striking a pedestrian early Friday morning. Officers and EMS arrived on scene and performed life-saving measures at the incident at about 6:45 a.m. Unfortunately, the pedestrian, a 60-year-old female, succumbed to her injuries at the scene. The involved driver remained on scene and was cooperative with the investigation.

Fake plates are a felony
California Highway Patrol Madera Officer McCaslin made a traffic stop on a commercial vehicle on southbound State Route 99, at Madera Avenue. During the stop, Officer McCaslin noticed two license plates attached to the front of the semi, overlapping each other. The front license plate had a suspicious print on it.
