Rejoice on Resurrection Day
Tomorrow is Resurrection Day, more commonly known as Easter Sunday. That is a glorious day for many reasons, but there is one reason in particular. Jesus is the reason for the season. For many of us, on Easter we celebrate the third day after Jesus was brutally killed, when he did something that he had promised he would do. According to the gospel as related by Luke, Jesus told his disciples, “We are going up to Jerusalem, and everything that is written by the prophets about

Opinion: A grayer United States
We may be familiar with a general outline of the history of the human species on our planet. Most of us agree with the current theory of evolution, though others challenge the science. Whatever the case, forensic examination of the bones of our distant ancestors reveals that, on average, they did not live long lives. During the thousands of years, when they were mainly hunters and gatherers, women conceived very early, and most of their babies died. Many of the women died duri

Letters: Cesar Chavez Day
Holiday was granted for Cesar Chavez. He has been discovered for what he was. Now, to whitewash the “holiday,” they are going to re-name it. Why not eliminate the holiday? Madera embraced the Farnesi family
For The Madera Tribune Alfredo and Caterina Farnesi. The woman left her little Italian village in the province of Lucca and walked along the dusty road with a cart full of flowers to sell. Suddenly she stopped and thought, “I don’t want to live this kind of life anymore; I want to go to America.” The year was 1921, and the young women was 22 year-old Caterina Tocchini.
