Torres records shutout over Bullard Knights
The Matilda Torres Toros girls soccer team scored three first half goals and cruised to a 4-0 victory over the Bullard Knights in County/Metro Athletic Conference action. The Toros got a goal in the 11th minute, and added two more in the first half Tuesday at Matilda Torres. The Div. IV-based Toros recorded an important league victory over the Knights, who are a Div. I-based team. Elihanna Gallegos, Cindy Garcia, Mia Hernandez and Emma Velasquez scored for the Toros.

Moran to enter softball Hall of Fame

Medina earns Hall of Fame nod
The Madera Tribune File Photo Jocelynn Medina, circa 2009. When Jocelynn Medina graduated from Madera High School in 2009, she was ranked amongst the team record holders in a number of categories. Now, 16 years later, she is still ranked in the top five, and still holds the record for most doubles in a season (13), which has been tied twice. “Those stats are so crazy. I just loved the game. As long as we did what we needed to do at the plate,” she said.

HOF’er Salinas earns another induction

Former Madera Coyote softball standout Vanessa (Salinas) Tua’au earned a Madera Athletic Hall of Fame induction in 2022, but was unable to attend the ceremony. A little more than three years later, Tua’au will earn an induction into the Madera Coyote Softball Hall of Fame, and will be able to attend the ceremony. Softball standard bearers earn second HOF induction
As would be the case, the 1989 Central Section championship Madera Coyote softball team will become the first team to be inducted into the Madera Coyote Softball Hall of Fame. The team will earn induction with players Jennifer (Parker) Moran, Vanessa (Salinas) Tua’au and Jocelynn Medina at the January 31 dinner. That team defeated Mt.
