Several examples of recent phone scams: • Scammer calls pretending to be law enforcement and says you have a warrant. They ask for payment over the phone or via gift cards.

Horseshoe League seeks new pitching courts

Golfer tallies more awards

Stabbing victim in stable condition
Madera Police officers responded to the 700 Block of Linden St. for reports of a stabbing. Upon arrival Thursday morning at about 8:30 a.m., officers found a 25-year-old male who sustained a stab wound to the chest. Officers provided medical aid at the scene, and the victim was later transported to a local hospital by EMS, where he is listed in stable condition. Arrests made for robbery
Madera PD Officers responded to Rancho San Miguel regarding a robbery in which the victim was shot during the encounter with the suspect on November 8. The Investigations Unit obtained witness statements, video surveillance, and additional evidence from the scene, which led them to a residence within the city where a search warrant was served. During the service of the search warrant, officers recovered a handgun similar to the one used in the incident, cash, and other items
