The Madera American Little League, in addition to playing baseball, has many events scheduled in the next month. Saturday, the league will host its annual carnival from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. There will be many events for kids, and even parents, to participate in. Death denied on wagon train trip
Eight mules strained at the harnesses. They were pulling four covered wagons up the steep grade that leads from the Chowchilla River to the little town of Raymond. Madera man shot and killed
A 19-year-old man was killed after being shot in Madera, said the City of Madera Police Department. At around 10:20 p.m. Friday night, officers responded to Solano Avenue for reports of a shooting. When they arrived, they found 19-year-old Alvaro Ulises Ortega Jr. with major injuries. Law enforcement transported the victim to the hospital. However, he later succumbed to his injuries. Officers believe the shooting to be gang-related. However, no suspect has been identified. T
