M.A.L.L. hosts events

The Madera American Little League, in addition to playing baseball, has many events scheduled in the next month.


Saturday, the league will host its annual carnival from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. There will be many events for kids, and even parents, to participate in.


In addition, the league is host its first golf tournament on May 7 and will be hosing a softball tournament on May 21 and 22.


“We are trying to fundraise to stay above water,” M.A.L.L. president Chris Molina said. “It’s still good to try to make money for the kids. We want to do all of these fundraisers to get our name in the community.”


Carnival


The carnival will begin at 8 a.m. and Molina has a lot of activities planned. There is a Golden Woody tournament for all Major League teams and a skills competition for minors players.


“The Golden Woody is a baseball tournament with wooden bats with a bunch of twists on the rules,” Molina said. “The second and fourth innings, the kids will run to third base first. The teams will also get an offensive and defensive mulligan.”


The tournament will begin a 10 a.m. and the championship game will be held at 1 p.m.


In addition, there will be the league’s raffle. They will also be holding multiple 50/50 raffles throughout the day.


The league will host a cornhole tournament with a $20 buy-in per player for all ages. There will be kickball game for players on Field 1 and a mushball game between the major league and minor league coaches after the Golden Woody championship. All proceeds go to Madera American Little League.


“I have a really good group of people,” Molina said.


Golf Tournament


The M.A.L.L. will host its first golf tournament on May 7 at the Madera Municipal Golf Course, beginning at 8 a.m.


The cost is $125 per player and $500 for a foursome for the 18-hole tournament. Carts will be included and scorekeepers will be present. Lunch and awards will be served at the Little League field following the tournament.

Softball Tournament


The league will host an adult softball tournament for men on May 21 and for coed on May 22 at Rotary Sports Complex

There will be a cornhole tournament, as well.


Team fee is $325 and includes the umpire fee. A deposit of $150 is required to reserve the spot.
