Trees stolen from Town and Country Park
For The Madera Tribune
Holes and poles are found where trees were stolen earlier this week at Town and Country Park.
Last week, Madera City park crews made the disheartening discovery that five young trees, recently planted by community volunteers on Earth Day at Lion’s Town and Country Park, were stolen.
Tuesday morning, crews reported an additional six trees had been dug up and stolen overnight. The culprits are focusing their attention on the young trees situated deep within the park, where visibility is limited from the surrounding streets.
Trees stolen are three valley oak trees, three ginkgo trees, two Shumard oak trees, a southern oak tree, a scarlet oak tree and a Chinese elm tree. The 11 trees range in price from $175-$200 each.
