Toros advance to volleyball semifinals

The Matilda Torres Girls Volleyball team has ventured into unchartered territory after a three-set victory over 10th-seeded Dos Palos to advance to the semifinals of the Div. VI Central Section playoffs.


After some shaky times in the playoff opener against Tranquillity, the second-seeded Toros played three complete sets, and outscored Dos Palos, 75-39, in the three sets in Thursday’s quarterfinal match.


The Toros combined for 43 kills in the three sets led by J’Lynn Mitchell with 20. Trinity Anderson added 10 kills while Tarin Anderson had six and Amelia Specials had five.
