Torres soccer cruises to the quarterfinals

Matilda Torres’ Karime Jaimes sends a ball in the air that went over the goalkeeper for the Toros’ fourth goal of a 5-1 victory Tuesday over Orosi in the first round of the Div. V Central Section playoffs. 

 

The Matilda Torres Toros girls soccer team earned the top seed in the Div. V Central Section playoffs, and didn’t disappoint with a  5-1 victory over Orosi on Tuesday at Madera South. 


The Toros scored five goals in the first half, and the 16th-seeded Cardinals added a second half goal. Torres played Thursday in the semifinals against No. 8 seed Taft. 


Torres received goals from five different players for the win. They had three goals in a 13 minute span to cruise to the win.
