Toros pull away late for win

The Matilda Torres Toros boys basketball team jumped to a 22-13 halftime lead only to see it go away in the fourth quarter. However, the Toros closed the game with a 7-0 run to record a 55-50 victory over the Firebaugh Eagles in the Torres gym.
The Toros fell to a barrage of 3-pointers from the Eagles, who hit 10 in the game, including five in a 22-point third quarter to get them back in the game Thursday.
David Casas and Nate Gray led the Toros with 20-plus scoring nights. Casas led the team with 22 points, and went eight-for-eight, all in the fourth quarter, on his free throw attempts.
