The Matilda Torres bench reacts to Aaliyah Marcello (30) hitting a 3-pointer at the end of Wednesday’s victory over the Dos Palos Broncos. Marcello also had a look of disbelief that she made the shot.

For the Matilda Torres Toros girls basketball team, it was the tale of two games. On Tuesday, the Toros had trouble finding the hoop in a loss to Clovis North. However, on Wednesday, the Toros had no problem scoring in a rout of Dos Palos.

In Tuesday’s battle, the Div. V-based Toros battled up in weight class with the Div. II-based Clovis North Broncos. The Toros made just nine field goals in the game, and shot just 17 percent from the field. They didn’t have a player reach double figures in scoring.

Against the Dos Palos Broncos, who are a Div. VI-based team, the Toros had no problems, scoring the first 11 points of the game. They took 82 shots in the game, and made 30 for 37 percent shooting. They had three players in double figures.
