Madera's Ray Urbano jumps off the third base bag after a stolen base attempt in the fifth inning. The threw went into left field to allow Urbano to score the go-ahead run in Tuesday's win over El Diamante.
The Madera Coyotes baseball team did just enough for a 3-2 victory over the El Diamante Miners at Mel Parker Field to open the 2026 season.
El Diamante took a 2-1 lead after two innings Tuesday, but the Coyotes scored two runs in the fifth to secure the victory.
Eric Nelson and Christian Guerrero combined to no-hit the Miners through six innings. Guerrero allowed a lead-off single to open the seventh, but the runner was picked off first.
