Toros defeat Fresno for first win of season

With a dominating rushing attack, the Matilda Torres Toros football team picked up its first win of the season after a 20-6 victory over the Fresno Warriors at McLane Stadium.

“We had some big injuries in the game to overcome,” head coach Joseph Marquez said. “The kids had to be resilient and fight through it. It was a really good win for us.”

Amani Sua rushed for 83 yards and a touchdown before he had to leave the game in the second quarter with a hamstring injury. However, in stepped Angelo Adame, who filled Sua’s shoes without a let up. He rushed for 107 yards and two touchdowns. His last carry was the game-clinching score late in the fourth quarter.
