Matilda Torres’ Jillian Villalobos waits for her chance at a shot during Friday’s victory over Dos Palos. Villalobos led the Toros with 18 points, including six steals.
In what was supposed to be one of the best games of the Cen-Cal Holiday Invitational girls basketball tournament ended up being a footnote this weekend at Matilda Torres High School.
The Toros set up a quarterfinal match-up with the Selma Bears after a dominating victory over Dos Palos in the first round.
However, Selma decided to forfeit Saturday’s game because it was the school’s winter formal, and players would not be able to attend the 8:30 p.m. tip-off. Therefore, the Toros head to the semifinal game Friday against Corcoran at 8:30 p.m.
