Madera’s Jayden Martinez makes a tough catch over the middle during Friday’s loss to the Bullard Knights. Martinez scored four of Madera’s five touchdowns in the loss, and caught six passes for 181 yards.

The Madera Coyotes almost overcame the loss of their starting running back for a comeback victory over the Bullard Knights while the Matilda Torres Toros comeback fell a little short in Friday night league battles.

The Coyotes lost star freshman running back Anthony Estrada early in the second quarter of Friday’s loss to Bullard. He finished with 47 yards on 10 carries, and was held without a touchdown for the first time this season.

However, Anthony Bursey came in to replace Estrada, and proved to be a capable back-up with 54 yards on 18 carries and 42 yards on three receptions.
