Torres running back Joseph Bass scored one of three Toros’ touchdowns during Friday’s 21-19 quarterfinal victory over Coalinga.
The Matilda Torres Toros held off a late Coalinga surge for a 21-19 victory Friday night in the Div. IV quarterfinals of the Central Section playoffs.
The Toros jumped out to a 21-6 lead before the Horned Toads made a late surge to get within two. However, the Toros were able to get a first down on the final drive of the game to preserve the victory.
The fifth-seeded Toros will head to top-seed Shafter on Friday in a rematch of last year’s Div. V semifinal game, which the Generals won.
