Top golfer headed to York

Top Madera Coyote golfer Sydney Fernandez signs her National Letter of Intent to play golf at York College in Nebraska during the school’s signing ceremony in May.

For one of the best golfers to strike a ball for the Madera Coyotes, her college decision was between going to a school and not play golf and going to a school to play golf.

Ultimately, Sydney Fernandez chose to play golf and continue a pipeline to York University in Nebraska.

“I’m glad and blessed that I have this opportunity,” she said. “I would have never thought that golf would get me to where I am now than other sports that are known to get scholarships. I didn’t even know there were golf scholarships that could lead to educational scholarships.”
