Madera Police Department officers responded to Stadium Road near Alpha Elementary School Tuesday morning where a student was struck and injured by a vehicle.
The student was transported to the Valley Children’s Hospital for treatment for their injuries.
“We would like to take a moment to remind everyone of the extreme importance for drivers to use caution while driving in school zones,” Madera PD said in a statement. “Parents, it is equally important to ensure your children cross the street appropriately by utilizing cross walks, and to avoid being distracted by cell phones while walking. The Police Department asks both drivers and pedestrians to transit these areas safely to help avoid any future incidents. Thank you to those who helped comfort the student while emergency personnel responded, your actions are beyond appreciated.”
