Madera South No. 9 batter Yafred Vanegas puts down a sacrifice bunt during a two-run second inning. Vanegas added two sacrifice flies to drive in two. He also scored a run.

The Madera South Stallions’ offense was hot on a cold night in an 11-6 victory over the Central Grizzlies at Eddie Chapa Field.

The Stallions also got an up-and-down pitching performance from Victor Mercado to lift them to the win. Mercado finished with 115 pitches on the cold night, and struck out 13 batters, but walked five. He allowed three hits and three unearned runs in the win.

Three Stallions had multi-hit games, led by Lenin Gonzalez, who hit the team’s lone extra base hit with a double. He also scored two runs and drove in another. Jayden Castaneda was 2-for-4 with two runs scored and drove in a run.
