Madera County Sheriff Tyson Pogue, along with other dignitaries prepares to cut the ribbon on a new Sheriff’s Logistics Facility in Oakhurst on Tuesday.

Madera County Sheriff Tyson Pogue officially opened the Madera Sheriff’s Logistics Facility in Oakhurst.

Pogue officially hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony at 48219 Liberty Dr. in Oakhurst on Tuesday to begin a “new chapter of enhanced public safety and disaster preparedness.”

“Madera County has been no stranger to adversity,” Pogue said at the ceremony. “Our community has faced its fair share of wildfires and storms, leading to evacuations and the activation of emergency operations. In these times of trial, our Oakhurst sub briefing room was transformed into an emergency operations center, and the bay of the fire station became the nerve center for fire responses. We didn’t have a space in Oakhurst immediately available that was large enough to accommodate a large-scale operation management.
