Laura Jacquelynn (Yancey) Burrow.

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Laura Jacquelynn (Yancey) Burrow (Madera, California), born in Detroit, Michigan, who passed away on Oct. 5, 2022, at the age of 65, leaving to mourn family and friends. Laura was known to her family and close friends as “Jacquie.”

After graduating from West Hills College in Coalinga, CA, with a degree and certificate in Early Childhood Education and Child Development, Laura spent 30 years in social work and community service. Following graduation, she spent six years at West Hills College as the director of the Child Development Center on Campus.

Moving with her husband Larry to Madera in 1991, Laura then spent 6 years working for the United Way in Madera. She began work with Madera County in 1999 and retired after 16 years as a social worker in Child Protective Services. Laura continued her service to the community serving on the Madera County Grand Jury for 2 terms, first as a juror, then as foreman pro-tem.

Laura had a close, loving relationship with her step-daughter Lisa Burrow, and was best friends with her in-laws Connie and James Hopper, and Debra Dilldine. Some of her favorite memories included road-trips with them and husband Larry, and a recent trip to Arizona for a reunion with her sister Valeria and her family. At home, Laura enjoyed her many pets, gardening, soap operas, crocheting, cooking and making bead jewelry. Laura loved spending time with her husband of 39 years Larry and treasured their weekly date-nights to local restaurants, casinos or family get-togethers with her cousin-in-laws.

Laura is survived by her husband Larry Burrow of Madera, sisters-in-law Connie Hopper and Debra Dilldine, brother-in-law James Hopper, step-daughter Lisa Burrow, sister Valaria Gatewood-Walker and brothers John Yancey, Myron Yancey and Robin Yancey. She was preceded in death by her father, John Floyd Yancey, mother Glenda Camacho, and brothers Lloyd Gatewood, Darrin Yancey and Sean Yancey.

Laura (Jacquie) will be remembered in a private ceremony with family and friends. Thank you all for your prayers.
