Obituary: Bernie McDaniel, Jan. 31, 1938-March 28, 2024

Bernie McDaniel.

 

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Bernie McDaniel, born on Jan. 31, 1938, in Fresno, CA. Bernie died peacefully on March 28, 2024, at the age of 86 at his home in Twain Harte, CA.


He is survived by his wife, Kathy McDaniel, daughters Kim Hansen and Kristi Kilgore (Chris), granddaughters Danielle Dobbins (Jason), Kelsee Montagna (Christian), Hannah Kilgore, great grandson Travis Dobbins, and two nephews, Ernie Montanari (Renee) and Keith Montanari (Sandy). In addition, he has several stepchildren, step grandchildren, step great grandchildren and many friends.


He is preceded in death by his mother, Lydia Helen McDaniel, father Bernard “Mac” McDaniel and sister Shirley Montanari.

Bernie lived in Madera and graduated from Madera High School in 1956. He farmed grapes for many years in Madera and Kerman before moving to Mariposa, CA, where he owned and operated “Bootjack Rental and Feed” for several years. While living and working in Mariposa, he was instrumental in organizing and helping to start the FFA Ag Boosters, which still exists today and supported Triangle 4H. Bernie worked and retired to Twain Harte, CA, where he has lived and owned commercial properties for the last 28 years. He enjoyed life and lived it on his terms. He will be missed by many.

A celebration of life will be held at Twain Harte Golf Course, 22909 Meadow Lane, Twain Harte, CA, on Thursday, April 25, 2024, at Noon.
