Crab meat makes a delicious filling for fried wonton appetizers.
For those who would like to ring in the New Year with some nibbles, here are a few tried-and-true recipes that have been kicking around in my family for years.
So far, nobody has gotten tired of them, but perhaps they are just too polite to complain. Whatever the case may be, they always manage to disappear.
They are not like the chocolates my cousins used to take one bite of, then hide the rest of it under sofa cushions, behind pillows, in the laundry hamper and wherever else they could get rid of the candies. Our grandmother always received a five-pound box of See’s chocolates from her sisters every Christmas, and the kids would sample them. Most of the time they hid what they did not like. I sure do hope they outgrew that practice, now that they are in their older years.
