It is with deep sadness the Madera NAACP Branch announces the passing of past President, Luther B. Slack.

Slack was a Lifetime Member of the NAACP and a proud U.S. Navy retiree. He served as superintendent over the dental services at the Central California Women’s Facility when it first opened in 1990. A dedicated educator, he also taught at Pasadena Junior College, alongside his beloved wife, Clarissa.

As a past President of Madera NAACP Branch 1084, Slack played a key role in reinstating Youth Council 1830, and traveled with local youths to several national ACT-SO competitions.
