Mayor Pro Tem to hold toy fundraiser

For The Madera Tribune

Madera Mayor Pro Tem Anita Evans.

Madera City Councilwoman and Mayor Pro Tem Anita Evans will host a Christmas Extravaganza at the Madera District Fairgrounds to raise funds to purchase toys for students at James Monroe Elementary.

The fundraiser will be held Saturday in the fairgrounds’ Lumbertown building, from 6 to 11 p.m. The cost for the fundraiser/dinner is $50 and an unwrapped Christmas toy.

“Jesus is the reason for the season,” Evans said. “It’s the time of giving. Open up your hearts, reach in and bless a child at James Monroe Elementary with a toy.”

Evans has a goal of 600 toys. She also reminds people to dress warmly and to wear their favorite ugly Christmas sweater.

“It will be fun,” she said. “There will be games, entertainment and amazing food. There will be fellowship and laughter.”

Rancho Market will be catering the event and Starbucks will provide drinks for the night. Evans reminds this is a non-alcoholic event.

Tickets can be purchased at the door, but Evans would like people to RSVP so they can get an accurate head count for Rancho Market.

RSVP’s can be made by calling Evans at 903-305-1965 or email emailrsvp@valleyimpact.org.
