Madera falls at MLK showdown

Madera’s Elias Torres rises up for a 3-pointer during Friday’s loss to North of Bakersfield at the MLK Showdown at Edison. Torres led the Coyotes with 11 points. 

 

FRESNO — A day after facing the Edison Tigers in County/Metro Athletic Conference play at Madera, the Madera Coyotes boys basketball team went to Edison to face the North Stars from Bakersfield in the annual MLK Showcase. 


The Coyotes fell to an 11-0 first quarter run and could never recover in a 73-28 loss Saturday afternoon. Madera was outscored 42-23 in the second half. The Coyotes also shot 23 percent (12-of-53) from the field and 22 percent (4-of-18) from 3-point range. 


Madera also pulled down just 22 rebounds with eight coming on the offensive board.
