The crowd stands for the singing of the national anthem during the 9/11 event.
Madera County Supervisors, along with local leaders and the community, delivered an emotional salute to heroic firefighters and first responders in front of the iconic downtown 9/11 firefighter memorial for the 24th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks on Thursday in Courthouse Park.
The historic monument displays one of the original steel beams of the World Trade Center, where 2,977 people lost their lives, including 343 firefighters and 72 law enforcement members.
The annual remembrance began with the presentation of colors, keynote speeches of remembrance of 9/11, the fallen firefighters and the last alarm ceremony by Cal Fire L2881 Honor Guard.
