Madera South 1,000-point scorer Briannah Lorta had the ball in her hands late and hit a 3-pointer at the end of regulation to send Friday’s Central Section Div. V quarterfinal girls basketball game into overtime against the Exeter Monarchs.

Then, the third-seeded Stallions outscored the 11th-seeded Cavaliers in overtime for a 38-32 victory Friday at Madera South.

“It feels great,” head coach Johnny Sharp said of advancing. “We lost a player early in the year, so we had to adjust on defense. Finally, we are starting to pick it up. We have the defense, but not the scoring. This was right up our alley.”
