Hawks fall to Pirates in three sets

Liberty’s Karsyn Bauer rises up for one of her seven kills in a three-set loss Thursday to the Reedley Pirates.

The Liberty Hawks girls volleyball team had trouble putting the ball away all night and the Reedley Pirates took advantage by recording a three-set non-conference sweep.

The Hawks seemed like they were still feeling the aftereffect of a five-set marathon two days before against Immanuel in a 25-11 first set loss. The Hawks battled back in the next two sets, losing by a combined six points.

“We weren’t ready to play tonight,” head coach Grant Clark said. “I think we were still worn out from playing a five-set match with Immanuel on Tuesday. Emotional and physically, I think we weren’t checked into this match.”
