Liberty’s Brody Rollins finds open running room for one of his two 20-plus yard runs during Friday’s victory over Minarets. Rollins came off the bench to rush for 101 yards and a touchdown.

The Liberty Hawks football team knew its Homecoming battle with the Minarets Mustangs was going to be a battle.

The game was billed as the small school game of the week with both teams entering Friday night undefeated. However, the Mustangs were held without a score in the second half and wilted under the pressure of the Hawks in a 35-10 Liberty victory to remain undefeated.

“It’s a big win,” head coach Mike Nolte said. “You could see a couple of weeks ago, we were going to play each other on Homecoming and undefeated. It’s good to win on Homecoming. Amidst all the distractions and different things that the kids are pulled into, I give a lot of credit to our guys to stay focused.
