Madera’s Lawrence Flores hauls in a pass during Friday’s loss to Merced. Flores caught six passes for 93 yards with a touchdown.

The Madera Coyotes and Madera South Stallion football teams suffered tough losses Friday night.

The Coyotes fell to the Merced Bears, 43-34, in Merced in the annual Governor’s Hat game, and had to relinquish the Hat this year.

The Stallions found some momentum, but had trouble maintaining it with seven turnovers in a 51-20 loss to the Hoover Patriots at Madera South.
