Farm Bureau’s annual scholarship fundraiser set for Sunday afternoon
Cinco de Vino, an annual scholarship fundraiser, will be held by the Madera County Farm Bureau Sunday from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. at Peters Brothers Nursery, 1135 S. Granada Drive, Madera.
The event will mark the 20th anniversary of an event which has provided thousands of dollars in college scholarships for students who want to enter careers in agriculture.
Scholarship winners for this year include:
• Kylie Farmer of Chowchilla High School, who will receive the Franklin Secara Scholarship, $1,500 per year for four years. Kylie plans to major in agricultural communications at Texas Tech University.
• Jaden Koretoff of Madera South High School, who will receive the Tesei Family Scholarship, $1,500 per year for four years. Jaden plans to major in agricultural business at Cal State University, Fresno.
• Gilberto Ortega of Madera South High School, who will receive a Madera County Farm Bureau Scholarship for Children of Agricultural Workers of $1,000 a year for four years. He hopes to become a certified diesel technician/mechanic after completing certification at Reedley Community College.
• Paola Ramirez of Chowchilla High School will receive a Madera County Farm Bureau Scholarship for Children of Agricultural Workers of $1,000 a year for four years. She plans to major in agricultural trade and marketing at Merced Community College.
Recipients of Madera County Farm Bureau Scholarships of $1,000 a year for four years include:
• Dilan Basila of Minarets High School, who plans to major in pre-veterinary medicine after completing an AA degree at Binn College, Texas.
• Regan Fringer of Minarets High School, who plans to major in agricultural communications after completing an AA degree at Illinois Central College.
• Kaitlyn Linderholm of Minarets High School, who plans to major in agricultural education at Cal State University, Fresno.
• Hannah Mancebo, Chowchilla High School, who plans to major in dairy science at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo.
• Sierra Pafford of Liberty High School, who plans to major in agricultural business after completing an AA degree at Madera Community College.
• Michael Rezendez of Minarets High School, who plans to major in livestock nutrition and chemistry after completing an AA degree at Binn College, Texas.
• Kyle Shepherd of Liberty High School, who plans to major in agricultural systems management at California State University, Fresno.

Tickets may be purchased at the Madera County Farm Bureau office, 1102 Pine Street, or from any Farm Bureau director. Advance tickets are $50, while tickets at the gate are $60.
