For The Madera Tribune The Thomsen Garden on Avenue 5 1/2 will be one of several featured in this year’s Glorious Gardens Tour XI hosted by Madera Master Gardeners on April 22.

The Master Gardener Program of Madera County will host its Glorious Gardens Tour XI alongside its Garden Shoppe and Plant Sale at the Three Sisters Demonstration Garden next Saturday.

The variety of plants for sale has been “greatly expanded,” according to Madera Master Gardeners. The tour will showcase four gardens that include drought-tolerant and low maintenance features as well as “whimsy and collectibles among low water plantings.”

Like the annual tour, the sale will be 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 22 at the demonstration garden of Madera Community College Center, 30277 Ave. 12.

Tour tickets will be available on-site for $25 or can be obtained in advance for $20. Free admission for children 12 and under. Purchase tickets online at www.ucanr.edu/2017ggtmadera or at the following offices: Floral Fantasy (1930 Howard Road, Ste. K), Hurst Hardware (37398 Berkshire Drive, Madera Ranchos), Peters Brothers Nursery (1135 S. Granada Drive), Riverside Nursery (5215 N. Golden State Blvd., Fresno) and University of California Cooperative Extension (328 S. Madera Ave.).

A tour ticket isn’t required to browse the plant sale, but only cash or checks will be accepted when shopping — no credit cards.
