Lockdown at Yosemite High
The Madera County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a potential threat to Yosemite High School. Deputies arrived to the school on May 12 at about 1:20 p.m., and completed a thorough sweep of the campus and the surrounding area. No evidence of any potential threat was located. The Glorious Garden Tour

Board renames Chavez Elementary
The Madera Unified School District’s School Board has voted to change the name of Cesar Chavez Elementary School to Cottonwood Creek Elementary School. Train kills pedestrian
Madera Police Department officers responded to a report of a pedestrian getting struck by a train on the railroad tracks at the south side of East Yosemite Avenue. When officers arrived Wednesday morning at about 10:30 a.m., they found an adult male on the track who had sustained injuries consistent with being struck by a train, and he was deceased.
