The intersection of SR 41 and Avenue 12 will receive a major upgrade after the SR 41 Expansion project is completed.

Although it may not look like it now, the area around Avenue 12 and State Route 41 will soon be booming with business. But, before that can happen, infrastructure has to be laid down, and that may cause some inconvenience.

In the biggest public works roads project in Madera County history, construction began last week on widening SR 41 from Avenue 10 1/2, north to Avenue 15 to four lanes across, along with a new bridge going southbound to Avenue 12 on SR 41. There will also be new signal lights on Avenue 12 and modifications to the signal light on Avenue 15.

“This will improve all of the traffic circulation in the area,” Madera County Supervisor Jordan Wamhoff said. “When you improve traffic circulation, people are more willing to invest in the area to build. If it’s a pain in the neck to get people to your location, they are less inclined to invest in the area.
