Alleged predator on paid leave

Gonzalez makes public statement

Madera Unified Superintendent Ed Gonzalez made a public statement Tuesday on action the district is taking with regards to allegations that a sexual predator is teaching at Madera South High School.

Gonzalez wrote “On Tuesday, May 24, at a public meeting of the Board of Trustees, the Madera Unified School District became aware of allegations that a high school teacher has engaged in inappropriate relationships with high school students. Although no specific individual was mentioned, the district began an internal investigation into the allegations immediately, and interviewed the accuser and other individuals with information relevant to the allegations. These follow-up conversations resulted in the identity of the accused teacher, and on Thursday, May 26, that teacher was placed on Administrative Leave with Pay pending the results of our investigation. We are in communication with the Madera Police Department regarding this matter.

The highest priority of our school district is the safety of our students. Because this is a confidential personnel matter, the district is unable to release any further information at this time.”
