Matilda Torres’ Ethan Williams pulls up for a jumper during Thursday’s loss to the Hoover Patriots. Williams scored 10 points in the loss.

The Matilda Torres Toros boys basketball team had a good day and a bad day in two games over a three day span last week.

The Hoover Patriots instituted the 40-point running clock in the fourth quarter for a 77-39 victory on Thursday. However, the Toros rebounded for a 72-44 victory over the Firebaugh Eagles at the MLK Showdown at Edison High School.

Torres shot just 30 percent from the field and 20 percent from 3-point range in Thursday’s loss. But, they were much better against Firebaugh, including going 45 percent from 3-point range.
