Stolen vehicle suspect evades capture

A stolen black 2016 Mazda Miata was located by Madera County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies at the Yosemite Fuel Stop along Highway 41 in Coarsegold.  

As deputies attempted to block the vehicle in, the suspect narrowly avoided hitting the patrol unit and fled the scene. 

A short pursuit was initiated, but was quickly terminated due to the suspect’s erratic driving, and the deputies prioritized public safety.
