Officers make fire arrest

Madera Police Officers responded to a fire in the Fresno River, north of Cleveland Ave.

A witness advised officers a person named Morgan started the fire and fled Sunday evening.

While searching the area for the suspect, Officer Santos located Morgan Guerrero in the 1500 block of E. Yosemite Avenue. Guerrero admitted she did light the fire and she was later booked into Madera County Jail.

No property was damaged because of this fire. Thank you to the witness and Cal Fire firefighters for your help with this incident. Madera Police Officers will continue to patrol the river to prevent future criminal acts.

DUI arrest

Early Saturday morning officers were dispatched to Pecan Avenue and Westberry Boulevard for a vehicle that crashed into a vineyard.

Marc Mendoza was driving south on Westberry and launched his car into a vineyard instead of making the turn at Almond Avenue.

Mendoza was located walking away from the scene. He was found to be DUI and later booked into Madera County Jail.
