Obituary: Dolores Cattaneo

For The Madera Tribune

Dolores Cattaneo.

Dolores (Lola) Cattaneo, 83, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2023, at her home in Madera.

She was born on Feb. 3, 1940, in Santa Barbara, California. Dolores is survived by her daughters Linda (Larry Dunn) and Cheryle (Volodia Dolzan), her grandchildren, Katanya, Kameron, Kaylan, Natalia, Stephan and Antonio, four great grandchildren, her sister Annie and many nieces and nephews.

When Dolores was in her 20s, her love for God and the Bible grew. On July 16, 1962, she was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. She was well known as a loving, generous, kind person. Her greatest joy came from being able to help others have a close relationship with Jehovah.

In 1980, she and Richard, her husband of 50 years, moved to Madera. They enjoyed a happy life together until Richard died on March 13, 2009, of pancreatic cancer. It was here that she made many lifelong friends. Many people who came to the house enjoyed her delicious homemade flour tortillas.

Despite battling lung cancer for two and a half years, she still continued to give of her time and energy to help others.

Dolores was a dear friend, mother, and grandmother. She brought out the best in people and made everyone feel special and loved. Her memorial service will be held on Sept. 9, 2023, at 4 p.m.
