Early Wednesday morning MPD officers were dispatched to a subject tampering with vehicles in the 500 block of S. D St.
Upon arrival they located 34-year-old Zacarias De La Cruz holding a tire iron, and matching the suspect’s description. Although he initially dropped the tire iron while officers gave him orders, De La Cruz picked up the weapon and attempted to flee from officers as they approached to detain him.
MPD officers quickly apprehended De La Cruz, and took him into custody without any major injury to either party.
