MCSO renders aid at Horseshoe Bend

The Madera County Sheriff’s Communication Center received a call of an injured hiker on the Horseshoe Bend trail near Kirchoff Lake. 


A group of friends from the Fresno/Clovis area were hiking the Horseshoe Bend trail when one of the hikers, a 59-year-old female, slipped and possibly broke her ankle Sunday afternoon at about 1 p.m.


MCSO Search and Rescue teams were notified and immediately responded to the trailhead. Members from Cal-Fire, American Ambulance, Sierra National Forest Law Enforcement and Madera County Fire responded to the scene, along with CHP H40 helicopter. The hike in to the patient and their party was approximately 2.75 miles from the trailhead.
