Madera Police officer assaulted during arrest

A large Madera Police Department presence could be found in the parking lot of Olive Avenue and I Street last week.

A Madera Police Officer, while working a solo patrol assignment Friday, contacted Jason Vasquez, who is a vandalism suspect. Vasquez immediately assaulted the officer.

The officer was injured, but managed to take control until back up officers arrived.
